"Loon Point Grey Train", Summerland, CA

"Loon Point Grey Train"
12 x 16 inches
oil on linen panel

This marine layer is enough to make me start using photographs of nice sunny days instead of painting en plein air. Geese is this ever gonna end? I think this is the worst bout of June Gloom we have ever had. Of course I think that every year when this happens. Anyway, I have been thinking about walking out on these tracks for a while now as it seemed like a great vantage point. As I walked out there I came upon a Sheriff patroling the area. He informed me that I was trespassing and it was a sitable offense. He then said it was cool if I painted there but that I might get a ticked from one of his buddies. I like to walk the line from time to time so I stuck it and none of his buddies showed up to roust me.

  1. I love the perspective on this one, especially with the geometric as well as organic shapes together, (the curve against the straight edge)..this is eye it. And great story too!
