"East Beach Colors", Santa Barbara

"East Beach Colors"
6 x 6 inches
oil on panel

I arrived at this spot at East Beach about 20 min before sunrise. I made a crappy painting of the actual sunrise that I won't be posting. No worries, I was liking how the mountains where looking in the clear cool light so I started this little one. It was just starting to look nice and I was having fun putting some detail in and a freak gust of wind threw the painting towards me. I naturally batted it away with my brush and then tried to catch it with my foot before it fell face first into the sand.
It then sat on my shelf for four days until today when I cleaned off the sand and gave it a nice shinny new layer while my daughter played with the cats.
