"Lily Meadows Canyon", Maricopa, California

"Lily Meadows Canyon", Chumash Wilderness, Maricopa, California
6x8 inches, oil on panel, $150

I've been doing an annual hike into the Los Padres Forest for Memorial Day for 12 years now. The only one I missed was when my daughter was born on May 31st in 2008. We call it the Death March because it often includes many days of grueling sweaty hiking. This year was a little different as we had very mellow hiking days between camps in the Chumash Wilderness. This is a place filled with tall pines, amazing wild flowers of every color, sandstone and granite rocks that sprout some life giving springs. This was my first painting of the trip. A short walk down from the Lily Meadows Camp.
