The Chris Potter Art Foundation was created to honor the life, work, and generous spirit of artist Chris Potter. Chris believed deeply in the power of art to shape community and in the importance of supporting artists at the earliest and most vulnerable stages of their careers.
Purpose & Mission
It was his wish that emerging artists—particularly those in the Santa Barbara community—have access not only to financial assistance, but also to mentorship, encouragement, and real opportunities to share their work with the public.
The Foundation exists to:
Provide financial support to emerging and early-career artists
Offer mentorship and guidance, drawing on professional artists and arts advocates
Create exhibitions and events that give artists meaningful venues to show their work
Foster community through plein air painting and shared creative experiences
Through scholarships, grants, mentorship programs, and curated events, the Chris Potter Art Foundation seeks to remove barriers that prevent talented artists from continuing their creative path. Every donation directly supports artists as they grow, develop their voice, and contribute to the cultural life of Santa Barbara.
